Year in Review 2014

Happy New Year!!!  I hope you had a safe and wonderful new year’s eve celebration.  We stayed home with the kiddos and  invited some cousins over for dinner and fireworks.  My hubby made his arroz con pollo with plantains and a strawberry salad for dinner and we popped a couple beers, bottles of wine and eventually made a champagne toast at midnight.  My daughter made it all the way to midnight (barely) and had a blast watching the fireworks and sparklers.

While we’re all ringing in the new year, I wanted to take the opportunity to reflect on this past year and all that has happened in my life. Year in Review 2014

Last year had been one of the most amazing years of my life but it’s also been one of the most difficult as well.  I’ve been through some of the most complicated and stressful scenarios and most emotional phases of my life.  If you haven’t been following me for very long, this post will pretty much sum up what has happened in my life.  It’s been a whirlwind.  Hold on to your butts.

Had a surprise birthday party thrown by my awesome husband.  He flew in my BFF and I found out that I was pregnant that same week..  birthday boyce

We started preparing to selling our house.  Lots of DIY home repairs, painting, etc….   I also made the decision to stay at home full time and was forced to adjust to the change in my life.    I ran two half marathons during my first trimester.    BestDamnRace_Orlando_Finisher_picture

The hunt for a new house began.

I ran the Sarasota Half Marathon.  It would be my final half marathon of the year and of my pregnancy.

I announced my pregnancy online. First_Watch_Sarasota_Half_Marathon

I got selected from the lottery for the NYC Marathon, but had to defer to 2015 since I was pregnant.

I wrote my pregnancy bucket list

We found a property where we could have our dream house built.  Then we listed and sold our house in the same week.  Eventually, we decided to build our new house, but found out it wouldn’t be completed until July.  Our final decision was to live with my parents at their beach house until our new home would be ready to move into.    WIR_construction_site_home

We continued to pack up our house and get ready to move into my parents house temporarily.   And we found out we were having a boy!!! Baby_boy_penis

We finally moved from our first family house into my parents house for the Summer.

I wrote a bunch of pregnancy updates and played all through the Summer at the beach with my daughter.

Construction on our new house started taking shape.  New_House_Construction_5-11

I discovered a new love for prenatal yoga and took a lot of time off from running.

I took some beautiful maternity pictures, laid around my parents beach house, taught Rosalyn not to be afraid of the water,  and celebrated the Fourth of July on the beach on Anna Maria Island.  MaternityPictures_Beach_Rocks

We learned that baby boy was ready for delivery in the head down position.  38Weeks_Bumpdate

I survived my first pregnancy cold by drinking lots of these cold elixirs.  I packed my hospital bag and got ready for baby to arrive.

I wrote a labor & delivery cheat sheet and talked about awesome reasons to breastfeed your baby and whether or not I was going to take placenta pills.

I posted my daughter’s cesarean birth story and prayed that I’d be able to have a vaginal birth after cesarean.

We finally closed on our house and moved in.

Two weeks after we moved into the house, I had to scheduled a repeat cesarean.  It was bittersweet, but I had made peace with my body and couldn’t wait to meet my baby boy.

We welcomed Harrison into our lives on September 15th.  YIR Harrison

We celebrated our first halloween together  in our new house and  went trick-or-treating with the other neighborhood kids.

I received clearance to exercise by the end of the month and began my journey back to fitness.

November  –

I celebrated my wedding anniversary, Rosalyn’s birthday and hubby’s birthday all in this month.  My SIL visited with us over the month and made a gorgeous birthday cake to help us celebrate our daughter’s special day.

Harrison started sleeping through the night and I finally started getting out of my pjs every morning.

I ran my first Turkey Trot and signed up for my first postpartum half marathon.  Started half marathon training and decided to do the #RWRunStreak over the holidays.

I adjusted to life as a mother of two…. and a fur ball.  YIR Mom

We hosted our first Christmas in our new house and enjoyed the company of my BIL this month.  YIWI ran my first 10k ever and finished in just over an hour.  Still haven’t unpacked all of our boxes from the garage, but I’m finally getting back into a routine with the baby and think I’ll have some things accomplished by early 2015.

It’s been a busy year for us.  How’s did your year go?
