A Day in the Life with a 3 year old and an baby

I’m linking up this month for my Day in the Life post.  I think this will provide a really interesting perspective for our readers.  And I’m excited to read everyone else’s posts.  If you haven’t seen my previous day in the life post, you can read it here.  Now on with the show.

Day in the life 2 January

6:30 a.m.  I wake up next to this little guy.  Day in the Life Sleeping BabyHe begins to wake up, so I empty my bladder then tend to his needs.    I change his diaper and sit down to nurse him.  I check my email and Facebook messages from my phone while he eats.

7:00 a.m.  Harrison and I will snuggle in bed together while I watch the news or continue answering emails and blogging from my laptop.

7:30 a.m.  Baby goes back to sleep.  I get out of bed, get dressed, let the dog out and make coffee and breakfast.

8:30 a.m.  Rosalyn wakes up.  We snuggle together and then go eat breakfast together in the kitchen.

9:00 a.m. Harrison wakes up.  I dress him and bring him to play in the living room near his sister.  We play together with books, blocks, coloring books or stuffed animals.  Usually it looks something like this.  Day in the Life Mom Ros Ford

10:00 a.m.  I nurse Harrison again, then we play a little more in the living room.

10:30 a.m.  We begin to clean up the toys and get ready for Rosalyn’s gymnastics class.

11:00 – 1:00pm  Gymnastics class and commute to and from.  I will normally grab lunch for myself and Rosalyn on the way home from class.Day in the Life Gymnastics

1:00 – 1:30 p.m.  Eat lunch at the house.

1:30 – 2:00 p.m.  Quiet time before nap time   We typically watch a movie on the Apple TV or iPad for a while.  I nurse Harrison again, usually until he falls asleep and takes a cat nap.

2:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Naptime   Rosalyn will rest in her room or play quietly.  Harrison will nap in the living room while mommy gets some work done around the house.

3:00 p.m.  If I am not running that day, I will do Insanity Max30 or PiYo for my workout during this time frame.  Since it’s just 30 minutes, I can fit in my shower immediately afterwards before the kids wake up from their naps.  Day in the Life Insanity Max 30

4:00 p.m.  Snack time for Rosalyn  Usually I make her some fruit or crackers to eat.  If I’m scheduled to run this day, I will typically take the kids out at this time for a couple miles in the double jogging stroller.

5:00 p.m.  Playtime before dinner time.  We all take the dog for a walk together.   When we get back,  I will nurse Harrison again.

6:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Dinner.  I either have something pre-planning if my hubby is out of town, or I whip something very simple together while he finishes working in his office.

7:30 – 8:00 p.m.  Bath times   I will set Rosalyn’s bath up for her and then let her play in the tub alone while I bathe Harrison in the other bathroom.  By the time I’m done bathing him, she’s ready to get out.  I dress them both, then we all sit in the rocker and watch tv while Harrison nurses.

9:00 p.m.  Rosalyn’s bedtime.  I wrap Harrison in the Boba wrap so I can take him with me to tuck Rosalyn in bed and read her a bedtime story.  I say good night and then tend to Harrison.  Day in the Life Boba Wrap

10:00 p.m.  Harrison’s bedtime.  I nurse him for the last time and then set the room up with the noisemaker to lay him down for the night.

10:15 p.m.  I take a shower and get ready for bed.

10:30 p.m.  I will check emails, plan for next day, write out to-do lists and follow up on emails before going to bed.

11:00 p.m.  I let the dog out one more time before checking out for the night.

11:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.  SLEEP

Repeat all over again.

  1. Your kids are just too cute! I love that gymnastics picture! The most difficult part of my day by far is leaving my baby in the morning. I miss those mornings of nursing and snuggling! I don’t fit it all in at all. Baby wearing and a hands free pumping bra helps me fit in more than I thought i could though!
