Ever since I was a young child, music has always fueled my moods. My father being a musician probably had something to do with my affection for high energy tunes. He was always tapping his hands and feet to the beat of whatever song was being played on the radio. Maybe I genetically inherited his musicality, or maybe just picked up his habits through exposure. Either way, music has always been a big part of my life and I wouldn’t dream of working out in silence. Even more so, there are just certain songs with specific beats and lyrics that pump up my workouts. Their energy is contagious and no matter what rep or mile I’m on, they seem to ramp up my performance and push me to completion.
Today, as part of the Friday Five linkup, I’m listing a playlist of Five Power Songs to Pump Up Your Workout. These are five of my favorite songs that are always on reserve for my iPod. I hope you like them. And if you do, feel free to browse my other playlists that I post monthly. And be sure to visit Cynthia, Mar and Courtney’s blogs to participate in the linkup.
What songs are you jamming out to during your workouts?
Haley, I love Florence + The Machine; I need to add some of their songs back into my regular running playlist, and this is a great one! It’s really cool to know that your father is a musician; what a blessing to have had music be such a big part of your life from a young age! Thanks so much for sharing some of your faves; hope you have a great weekend!
i’m with you on music just making life (& workouts) so much better. that’s so cool that your dad is a musician! i don’t know that Christina song but i’ll have to look it up — her voice is incredible.
Make the World move is a good one. That is one of our songs in our spin class.
I don’t think I have ever thought of running to Florence + the Machine. I might have to give that a try!!!
Flo and the machine is one of my favorites. She got a handful that I really like.
I love Muse! Some songs I wasn’t familiar with on this list. Thanks for sharing!
Muse is awesome! I saw them once in concert when they opened up for U2 and I was hooked ever since.
