My husband is definitely not a runner. For starters, he has the flattest feet imaginable. I did talk him into running the Ragnar Relay in Key West this past January, but he swears he will NEVER do it again. He just doesn’t enjoy it like I do. But there’s one thing that he does like a whole heck of a lot more than running, and that’s RUM!!! When we were on our Ragnar journey, we saw a team with the name “I thought they said Rum.”
When I found out about the Summer of Rum event coming to Tampa, I asked him if he wanted to go. He responded with “Why would I want to go to a festival for runners?” I literally laughed out loud and said “No, babe. This time I’m really saying Rum!”
So if you haven’t heard about this festival let me tell you a little bit about it.
This event is coming to The Heights waterfront venue in downtown Tampa August 24th,
According to the website, there is going to be several rum stations, aptly called “Rum Zones.” For $15 in advance ($20 at the door -if available), you gain access to all the rum zones, live entertainment and re-entry privileges for the whole day. Once you’re inside the venue, all rum drinks are only $5. And we’re not talking about those wimpy little tasting glasses either; these are 12 ounce. drinks they’re pouring.
The Rum Zones include the Cruzan Daiquiri Deck, The Naked Turtle and The Appleton Rum Shacks, and much more!
If you want to fest the best way, I suggest you purchase the Endless Rum Cup. For $55 in advance, $65 at the door, you will receive admission to the event with all day re-entry privileges, Rum Swag from the vendors, and a 16-ounce commemorative Summer of Rum hurricane glass which enables you to enjoy endless refreshing drinks!!!
There are a limited supply of tickets available, so I recommend you make your purchase in advance. If you’d like to know more about the event, you can find the details on their website here.
Of course, we do ask that you party responsibly so make sure to make arrangements now for your taxi, car service, or hotel arrangements. The nice people at Courtyard Marriott and Hilton Garden Inn have a special rate for those of you interested in staying in the downtown area. Also, keep in mind that ZINGO has a pretty awesome arrangement too if you must get home and don’t want to leave your car at the event. If you’ve never used Zingo before, let me just say they have saved me on more than one occasion. They drive to meet you on a scooter, drive you home (while their scooter tucks inside your trunk), and when you wake up your car is parked nicely inside your garage or driveway. They are definitely a great option. 888-ZINGO-11
