With all the excitement and preparations for Ragnar, I’ve kinda lost track of my blogging responsibilities. I had a few posts get held up in my draft folder. i was going to polish those off this week, but I still haven’t gotten the chance to finish them. 🙁
We had a little bit if a hiccup with our Ragnar roster list. The runner designated to run the first position as Runner 1 had an unexpected death put a halt in her (and our) plans. Due to the funeral arrangements and other complications, she had to drop out of the race, which left us with one less runner for our team. I’m not too worries about the mileage, we were just trying to get the word out about needing a replacement for her. On a whim, we forwarded messages and sent out mass texts to everyone we know in the San Francisco area. We had absolutely no luck yesterday, but who knows what today will hold.
If it comes down to it, I’ve agreed to pick up the slack and run an extra leg of the race. I’ll have 21 miles instead of the measly 16 that I currently have. I am pretty sure this wont be a problem, but we will just have to wait and see, won’t we?
With all the confusion and chaos surrounding the loss of a runner, I’d lost track of why I wanted to do this race. Oh, yeah…….. Because I get to run through Wine country, otherwise known as NAPA VALLEY!!!!
Have you ever had a last minute race hiccup? How’d you deal with it?
Have a great time! I really enjoyed running in Napa Valley this summer 🙂
Thanks Meghan. I remember seeing your pictures. It’s definitely going to be memorable.
Oh no! That’s unfortunate timing. I hope you guys can figure something out!
I’ve never had any major race hiccups, other than my last one starting about 45 min later than expected. I managed OK though with that.
The relay sounds really neat – you will do great with the added mileage, fueled by the excitement of the race and the location!
