Thinking Out Loud

Another day, another doctors appointment for me and the baby boy.  We saw the gastroenterologist on Friday and we have a couple more blood tests that need to be executed.  So today I’m taking little man to get, hopefully, his last round of blood work for a very long time.  This next round of tests will be looking into his thyroid and endocrine system.  We are so fervently going after the food sensitivities, that I don’t want to rule out any other possible deficiencies.

Additionally, Dr. Narwal (GI specialist)  wants me to start offering Harrison goats milk three times a day, as well as adding a nutritional supplement into his meals three times a day.  Since Harrison has not responded to the formula at all, he just said to forgo the formula in place of the goats milk.  So we shall see how he responds to that in the upcoming week.

Since we’re talking about nutrition and dieting I thought I would share one of my favorite new produce items.   The produce guy at my grocer turned me on to these amazing new grapes and I just can’t stop popping them.  They’re so delicious. They’re Cotton Candy Grapes and they’re heavenly.  Have you tried them before?

Another food find for me lately was this amazing recipe with Brussels sprouts, bacon, and apple slices.  I know it sounds a little odd, but trust me, it’s delicioso.   I prepared dinner very similar with diced chicken added to the pan and it was a huge hit with my husband.

Fall is definitely my favorite season. Even though we don’t have the typical climate change in seasons like other parts of the country, this time of year still appeals to me for many reasons. For one, the weather starts to get a little cooler. Typically it drops from the mid 90’s into the high 80’s. It’s not perfect conditions, but I’ll take it.  Then we have this other thing that I look forward to.

With all the halloween decorations and pumpkin spice every things out all over the world right now, I’m beginning to feel like I’m going to miss out on all the fun this year. We will be in NYC for that race that I’m doing, you know, the one I talk about all the time, so we won’t be able to take my daughter trick-or-treating. Which makes me sad, because I was so looking forward to dressing up this year.  I even had a costume picked out for my dog.

Tell me this isn’t the best dog costume EVER! Stella would look epic in this ewok outfit.

I am more than a little upset that I won’t be able to take my daughter begging around the neighborhood for candy.  Especially since I taught her how to improvise her costume in a desperate situation and ask for candy the right way….. Gimme some candy!

Okay, I’m just joshing ya. I wouldn’t let my child ever act that obnoxious.  Thankfully, my parents will be watching Rosalyn over the weekend while we’re gone, so they’ve volunteered to take her trick-or-treating.  There’s an entire street in my parents beach town that shuts down for halloween every year for a block party/trick-or-treat extravaganza.  All the neighbors participate and it’s a pretty big deal.  My daughter asked to be a wolf for halloween this year.  Since she’s been learning about the big bad wolf she’s evidently got a fixation on the character right now.  I was hoping that I could talk her into something cute and girly with an easy DIY tutu but I’m thinking I might be ordering something if she doesn’t change her mind.  I’m not the most creative with sewing projects, which is why I would be dressing up like this if I was going to be with my daughter.  IMG_8808

A side of me wishes I was still preggo so that I could pull off this epic costume idea.

For reals, I’m so incredibly NOT gifted with sewing.  But if it doesn’t involved needles and thread, I can hang with the best of them.  So I decided I will be attempting a version of this delicious looking arrangement.  I love candy corn, so let’s hope I don’t eat the entire arrangement before it’s constructed.

This weekend we had planned to attend opening weekend of Howl-o-scream at Busch Gardens.  I’m pretty relieved that we didn’t go though, because we heard it poured and they had to close down most of the attractions and haunted houses due to rain.   I think we’re going to try for next weekend instead.

In other news, this Saturday we have some fun memes to look forward to because it’s October 3rd.  Not gonna lie.  I loved Mean Girls and I’ll never get sick of the references.  It’s so fetch!

You know what I think should definitely NOT happen?  The Black Bunned Halloween Whopper from Burger King.  I don’t typically eat fast food, but this makes me want to NEVER eat a whopper.  Ever.
