As a runner training for a marathon, I keep pretty diligent with my training schedule. I follow a similar plan on a weekly basis.
- 4 days of Running
- 2 Days of Cross training
- 1 Day of Rest
And even though it’s not part of my coach’s daily regimented workouts, I like to keep my body and mind fresh with at least 30+ minutes of yoga; it’s such a perfectly complimented form of cross training and stretching, and it’s the only way I choose to wind down post run.
So, it’s only natural that a wonderful organization like Zooma would couple the two activities together for an event not to be missed.
The Zooma website invites you to:
“Feel the ocean breeze during an all-levels 50-minute outdoor yoga flow session followed by an inspiring 3-mile beach run.”
The Cost is just $50 for a beautiful yoga setting on the dune-side lawn beside the Sea Walk Pavilion Stage in Jacksonville Beach. Upon completion of the 50-minute outdoor flow session, participants continue their blissful fitness experience as they take in the sea breeze during their scenic 3-mile run along the Jacksonville beach.
After your run, you can gather together with your friends and bask in your post workout glow as you nosh on healthy snacks at a refreshing sea-side gathering of friends.
If you are not an experienced yoga student, or have never practiced at all, this is a wonderful opportunity for you to experience yoga for the first time. The yoga instructors will offer modifications for those unfamiliar with yoga as well as for more advanced yogis.
BYOM (Bring Your Own Mat) and hydration.
You can gather more specific information on the Zooma website here or you can like the Inspired Yoga + Run Facebook page.
